Aspen HYSYS CatCracker
(formerly Aspen RefSYS CatCracker™)
Easy-to-use and rigorous FCC model
Aspen RefSYS CatCracker is used to simulate a refinery FCC (Fluid Catalytic Cracker) unit, and is based on a rigorous multiple lump reactor and regenerator system that is accessed from easy-to-use Aspen HYSYS®-style interfaces. It is deeply and conveniently integrated into more complex flowsheets using standard Aspen HYSYS models and work processes, bringing high fidelity FCC modeling to a broader audience with its friendly HYSYS-based interface. Aspen RefSYS Reformer is a core element of aspenONE™ Process Engineering for Refining and Marketing
Features
- Unit Operation Structure: Aspen HYSYS CatCracker is an Aspen HYSYS Petroleum Refining unit operation that you can drag and drop onto a flowsheet like any other Aspen HYSYS unit operation and quickly integrate into a larger flowsheet.
- Rigorous Reactor: The core model is a rigorous reactor and regenerator flowsheet with multiple lump reactor kinetics, rigorous regenerator coke burning kinetics, and heat balance between the reactor and regenerator via the catalyst circulation.
- Multiple Configurations: One or two reactor risers, one or two stage regeneration, and one or two feed injection locations can be configured for the reactor and regenerator system.
- Major Variables: All major operational FCC variables are available such as feed rate, feed composition, feed temperature, reactor outlet temperature, catalyst activity, catalyst type, catalyst cooler duty, etc.
- Catalyst Changes: FCC catalyst changes can be evaluated using data from MAT (micro activity tests) or pilot plant tests.
Benefits
- Improved Operations: Provides accurate analysis of FCC operations to improve profit margins with better feed stock selection and optimized operating targets.
- Capital Expansion Studies: Provides detailed information about FCC performance in debottlenecking studies.
- LP Planning Model Support: Provides accurate data for the support of the FCC submodel in the refinery LP planning model (e.g., Aspen PIMS™) to improve refinery crude feedstock selection and plant wide optimization.
