Connect, Manage, Archive
The Aspen Control Platform (ACP) provides a new level of ease in
building, testing, deploying, and managing APC applications.
Configured applications can be deployed to the runtime environment
with a few simple clicks and without requiring files to be
transferred to the target machines.
Once deployed, users can see the list of applications deployed
on a machine-along with their status data-in a single display. The
Differencing feature of the Aspen Control Platform makes it easy to
see what changed between any two versions of an application.
Connectivity between control applications and DCS/Historians is
supported with automation that reduces the time and effort to
complete tag-mapping by leveraging XML-based templates called
personality templates. These tag mapping templates use regular
expression language to create many IO connections at once. For
example, the controller needs anti-windup status, loop status, and
set point for each MV. Applications can quickly be deployed to any
server without file transfers.
The new tag wizard works with the existing drag-and-drop tag
browsing to make it even easier to configure the IO tags for your
application. You edit the tag template associated with each IO
Source to capture the standard naming conventions used on your DCS.
By providing a few key strings, it automatically constructs all of
the necessary IO tags for the application.
The tag wizard allows control application engineers to easily
make the right connections to tags such as anti-windup status, loop
status, and operator service indicators.
